The LARGE CONFERENCE ROOM was filled with 12 members including three New Guests-

Alan Colton, our club President (who is NOT actually sleeping), opened the meeting by announcing that Jim Tucker won the Central District’s International Speech & Evaluation Contest last weekend and Martin Olmeda was the Runner-up of the Evaluator contest. Great job by both men. They represent our club well.

Then he introduced Dick Larkin as the Toastmaster. The THEME for the meeting was All in a Days Work and the Word of the Week (WOW) TIME.

Prepared Speakers:

1st Speaker:






Joe Stewart did his 3rd CTM (Competent ToastMaster) speech, The Title was "THINGS THAT MATTER MOST", he talked about how Integrity has not been used by business leaders that are in trouble and how some unknown women have stepped up to show Integrity and set the story straight.





2nd Speaker: Amir Sherif presented 7th CTM speech titled "I'LL BE THERE". He talked about his role models and how he wants to be a good role model for his daughter.




Stephen Jaworski -- Table Topics Master asked for volunteers -- Julio Sanchez, Jim Tucker and our guest Laura Kirkham spoke well on what they will do with FUTURE TIME.

Matt Greenbergs was the General Evaluator, his team: Martin Olmeda was Evaluator #1, Julio Sanchez was Evaluator #2, and Cristy Vikander was Grammarian/ AH counter, and Alan Colton was the Timer Report after the meeting. All did a great job of Evaluating us.

The ballots were counted.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:03 pm Next week's meeting is scheduled for 5/5/04, CINCO De Mayo hope to see you there.

Hi All Century Toastmasters and soon to be Club members.  Here are the highlights for the meeting....

Alan Colton, our club President, opened the meeting by reading the club's mission statement and conducting the business of voting in our club's newest member Jason Calvert.  Then he introduced











Jim Tucker as the Toastmaster
.  The THEME for the meeting was Best Laid Plans and the Word of the Week (WOW) Goals.


We were treated to three powerful speeches  -   by three seasoned speakers:
Prepared Speakers:
1st Speaker:






Alan Colton did his 9th ATM speech,   only one more to complete his ATM. The Title was "TIME" it inspired us to balance our home and work lives everyday.


2nd Speaker:







  Don Wiggins presented a speech from the Advanced Speakers' Manual (ATM-2) entitled "THE UNKNOWN POWER". It was an entertaining speech on the wonders of wearing glasses.


3rd Speaker:  Dick Larkin did his 2nd ATM speech. an Entertaining speech called " OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH",  in which he recounted how and unexpected fork in his career path led him to recognize the value of mentoring.

Joe Stewart was the General  Evaluator, his team:







Martin Olmeda was Evaluator #1 Maury Tasem was Evaluator #2,  Julie Norris was Evaluator #3, and









Amir Sherif was Grammarian/ AH  counter, then  Julie Norris gave the Timer's Report after the meeting.    All did a great job of Evaluating us. 


The ballots were not counted.   Everyone did a great job at the speeches and Evaluations.




Alan closed by reminding everyone to try to attend the Central District’s International Speech & Evaluation Contest on Friday evening, April 23.


 It’s located nearby, at the city of San Diego’s Metropolitan Operations Complex, 9192 Topaz Way, San Diego, 92123. Best of all, our own Jim Tucker and Martin Olmeda, will be competing for our club.

Here are the highlights for the meeting....

The SMALL CONFERENCE ROOM was filled with 14 members and 4 New Guest -- Kristine Hendrick (SDG&E), Jason Calvert (non-SDG&E), Al Fernandez (SDG&E), Johnny Welch (non-SDG&E).

Alan Colton, our club President, started the meeting on time and introduced Gail DaSilva as the Toastmaster.  The theme for the meeting was Lights, Camera, Action and WOW of Telegenic.  Gail's favorite star was Miss Piggy, pink and voluptuous.



Educational Moment was done by Joe Stewart, he explained the Fear Factors in speaking


Prepared Speakers:


        1st Speaker:  Julie Norris did her speech on Passion, Faith, Motherhood, and Marriage. She is on her way toward the CTM. 



        2nd Speaker:  Allison Converse did her 2nd speech and is on her way toward her CTM.


        3rd Speaker:  Julio Sanchez did a very good job improvising on speaking about Being in touch with nature.


 


Stephen Jaworski  -- Table Topics Master kept to the Meeting Word of the Week (WOW) Telegenic and TV Stars.


 He picked our guest to speak Kristine Hendrick, Jason Calvert,  Al Fernandez, Johnny Welch.



Dee Williams was the General  Evaluator, her team: Gabriel Chong was Evaluator #1,  Alan Colton was Evaluator #2,


 Maury Tasem was Evaluator #3 and Grammarian/ AH  counter, then Bryon Shovlain gave the Timer's Report.


All did a great job of Evaluating us.    The ballots were counted and the awards were all close calls:


        Best Speaker:  Julio Norris

Best Evaluator Al Fernandez


 Best Table Topics :  Alan Colton....  Congratulations keep up the Great work.

Educational Moment was done by Martin Olmeda on Proper Topics for a Speech. Good Topics include things that connect with the audience. Don't are basic 3 B's no Bed, Bath or Boardroom topics, NO acronyms and NO offense language. Use only the allotted time, don't overrun the time.

1st Speaker: Dee Williams did her 1st speech, Icebreaker to start on her way to the CTM.












2nd Speaker: Robert Wade did his 2nd speech and is on his way toward his ATM.
