Here are the highlights for the EVALUATOR SPEECH CONTEST....

The SMALL CONFERENCE ROOM was filled with 14 members and 3 NEW Guest -- Dee Williams, Stephen Jaworski, and Greg Pino. You are always welcome to our weekly meeting. Thanks for making time for our meeting. We hope you benefit from the experience.

Ferdonya Henderson, our club VP of Education, started the meeting on time and introduced JIM TUCKER as the Toastmaster for the EVALUATOR Speech Contest.

DOUG GOODMAN was introduced as the Chief Judge. He explained the importance of Scoring the Evaluators.
Prepared Speaker did not make the meeting, (we won't mention his name). Cathy Alfaro agreed to do a speech. She had a hip pocket speech titled "Snack Bar Duty". She did a wonderful job on short notice and showed her true Toastmaster skills. She spoke for 6 minutes and 30 seconds.

Then the Evaluators were escorted out of the room to make notes on the Speech for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, Jim Tucker interviewed Cathy about her speech.

Then the Contest began, (order was randomly picked) one at a time the Evaluators spoke.
1st EVALUATOR: Maury Tasem ... 3 Minutes, 15 Seconds
2nd EVALUATOR: Dick Larkin ... 3 Minutes, 18 Seconds
3rd EVALUATOR: Ferdonya Henderson ... 2 Minutes, 42 Seconds
4th EVALUATOR: Martin Olmeda ... 2 Minutes, 15 Seconds
All of the evaluation were within the required time guidelines, longer than 90 seconds and less than 3 minutes, 30 second.

The ballots were scored by all members, then counted and the awards were all close calls: Everyone did a great job ! ! !

Runner-up EVALUATOR: Martin Olmeda
Best EVALUATOR: Dick Larkin

Congratulations, now he moves to the AREA Contest on March 5th next Friday, in Tierra Santa.

The LARGE CONFERENCE ROOM was filled with 20 members and 1 NEW Guest -- SEAN ROGERS

Alan Colton, our club President, started the meeting on time and introduced DOUG GOODMAN as the Toastmaster for the Speech Contest.

Martin Olmeda was introduced as the Chief Judge. He explained the importance of Evaluating the speakers.
Prepared Speakers (order was randomly picked)
1st Speaker: Dick Larkin did a wonderful speech Titled: "Das Boot and the Championship Roses" on how to get Fired and how to Fire someone.
2nd Speaker: JIM TUCKER did a wonderful speech Titled: "Making a difference" We all can make a difference no matter how bigger or small.

The ballots were counted and the awards were all close calls:

Best Speaker: JIM TUCKER

Congratulations, now he moves to the AREA Contest on March 5th, in Tierra Santa.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:02 pm

Next week's meeting on 2/25/04 is scheduled for the Toastmaster Club Evaluation contest. Jim Tucker is the Toastmaster, Doug Goodman may be the Chief Judge.

Evaluator Contestants are Dick Larkin, Ferdonya Henderson, Martin Olmeda, and Michelle Segal.

Hi All Century Toastmasters and soon to be Club members.
Here are the highlights for the meeting....

The SMALL CONFERENCE ROOM was filled with 14 members and 1 NEW Guest -- Lyn Gabe -- who is now a member. She signed up on the spot. You are always welcome to our weekly meeting. Thanks for making time for our meeting. We hope you benefit from the experience.

Alan Colton, our club President, started the meeting on time and introduced Michelle Hoyt as the Toastmaster.
Educational Moment, Matt Greenbergs explained the importance of Evaluating your club and find the "IDEAL CLUB" for you.

Prepared Speakers:
1st Speaker: Joe Stewart did his 2nd speech towards his CTM. He talked sincerely about Aggressive Driver and how NOT to become one.

2nd Speaker: Evonne Spineto did her 9th speech towards her CTM, on "E-Bay" and how is has changed the World Market.
3rd Speaker: Dick Larkin did his 1st speech towards his CL and ATM on the TOASTMASTER'S PROMISES.

No Table Topics
Ferdonya Henderson was the General Evaluator, her team:
Julio Sanchez was Evaluator #1, Jenni Holloway was Evaluator #2, Doug Goodman was Evaluator #3, and Allison Converse was the Grammarian/ AH counter and Don Suskind was the Timer. All did a great job of Evaluating us.

The ballots were counted and the awards were all close calls:

Best Speaker: Evonne Spineto
Best Evaluator: Doug Goodman

Hi All Century Toastmasters and soon to be Club members.


Here are the highlights for the SPECIAL meeting....

The CONFERENCE ROOM in CP6 was filled with 38 members and Guest  -- We hope you benefited from the experience.


Food was served first,  everyone enjoy the salad, Costco Pizza and drinks.  All of the cookies were gone quickly.


Alan Colton, our club President, started the meeting on time and introduced Jim Tucker as the Key Note Speaker to present a DVD of the Toastmasters International Speech Competition 



This was a special meeting to showcase the top 5 speakers from the 2003 World Championship of Public Speaking in Atlanta, GA last August.



Order of Speakers were Kyle Hall, Jim Key, James Tucker (our own guys),  Lisa Albers and Dave Sanfacom.  We did not have time to see the other four.   All were excellent and after the votes were totaled. It was great to see the best of the Best Toastmaster perform.



 Jim Key was first Dave Sanfacom second and Kyle Hall finished third.  They were all winners.


The meeting was adjourned at 1:10 pm



Our next meeting is on 2/11/04, next Wednesday.
